Golf Etiquette That A Golfer Must Follow

There are some things that a golfer should mind and these things are often known as golf etiquette. Golf etiquette may sound like rules but it is more on guidelines to remind you what to do when you are on the golf course playing golf.

1. Avoid being rude to your caddy. Most golf clubs have caddie programs because this is a great way to help young people earn money. Caddies don't only bring your golf clubs they can also offer hints and information about the layout of the course as well as the selection of clubs. Your caddy can even help you win the game so avoid shouting at them.

2. When you play golf, you will need to concentrate. Concentration is essential in the game of golf that is why noises should be kept at minimum. So when you are on the course, avoid shouting or screaming because such actions can be distracting to other players. The more you should keep the noise at a low level when you are playing in a tournament.

3. In every game there's always a warm up portion. So to be able to warm up fully you must arrive earlier than the set time. This will give you enough time to do some practice swings. Avoid coming late because you will end up rushing your warm up session.

4. The first tee goes to the player who has the highest score on the previous hole. That has always been the rule and you should abide by that. If you make a tee and you are not the one who got the highest score, then such an act can be considered ill-mannered. It is important that you respect the one who got the highest score by letting him or her make the tee.

5. Before you swing your club, make sure that everyone is at a safe distance from you. This is important because getting hit by a club can be fatal. We all know that club heads are made from stainless steel and it can be very hard.

6. Do not let others wait. When it is your turn, always be prepared. Do not wait for others to call your attention and tell you that it is your turn. Keep your eye on the game.

7. Avoid picking up someone else's ball especially when you are on the green. If possible place an identification mark on your ball if you find it hard to remember the brand. Other golfers would simply remember their golf ball's brand in order to be able to identify it amidst other golf balls.

8. Do not step in the way of the putting line when you are on the green. This line may not be visible but it is rude to step on it because you will surely distract the player preparing to make the putt. In addition, shoe imprints can deflect or affect the ball's path.

9. When you are angry, avoid making it obvious by throwing your club or the golf ball. Such an act is displeasing and childish. When you get disappointed, try to react as little as possible. Actions like throwing and shouting can distract other players on the golf course.

10. Golf courses may have a set of dress codes that golfers should follow. Male golfers are often required to wear slacks, collared shirts and golf shoes while women on the other hand are required to wear skirts that end up to the knees, collared shirt and of course golf shoes. In summary golfers are required to wear smart casual attire.
