Seven Things To Keep In Mind When Buying Golf Clubs
It is important that you have a little background about golf club sets before you go shopping for one because you might end up buying the wrong set. So before you shop for golf club sets, here are some things worth remembering.
1. Trial and error. You know that golf clubs don't come cheap and high-end, high quality golf clubs are certainly not that affordable. So before you invest your money, reduce the risk of buying the wrong set by renting some golf clubs first.
Renting clubs or borrowing is one of the best ways to try on clubs without spending a lot of money. Remember to rent different types of club sets. In this way you will be able to distinguish and differentiate which set allows you to hit better or which set you are comfortable with.
2. If you are an amateur golfer, it would be best if you familiarize yourself with how golf clubs are sold. Remember that golf club sets are composed of different types of golf clubs like the putter, irons, woods, etc. This is important because it is of utmost importance that the golf clubs match each other with the exception of the woods. If you are still a bit confused, it would be best if you ask help from the attendant.
3. Club heads. This is the part that hits the golf ball. Club heads can be made of various chemical compounds like zinc oxide, titanium, copper and tungsten. These chemical compounds are often used to give club heads a good, eye catching appearance.
You may get attracted to golf clubs with club heads made from these chemicals but you must remember that when these chemical compounds are used on club heads the performance is really not that efficient. These compounds work more on the aesthetic side. If you want a golf club that works, then choose a club whose club head is made of stainless steel. Stainless steel club heads are more durable and perform better.
4. Just like the club heads, it is also better if you buy a golf club whose shaft is made of stainless steel. The inexpensive alternate for stainless steel is graphite but oftentimes shafts made of graphite are very inconsistent and can even cost you your game. Stainless steel shaft works better than graphite shafts but then again the performance is worth it.
5. If you have an average height, then an off the shelf golf club will certainly fit you. On the other hand for those individuals that are rather tall or short, they might need to have the golf club shaft height adjusted.
It is important that you feel comfortable with the length because this will surely affect your performance. If you are tall and your golf club is rather short, then you will have to bend over more which can result to you straining your back and you can go home with lower back pain. When you buy a golf club and you find the shaft too long, you can always ask the store attendant to have it adjusted according to your height.
6. If you are just a beginner, avoid buying expensive and pro series clubs. Start with simpler clubs with good performance. This will help you hone your skill until you are ready to step up to another level.
7. Always go for performance and not the looks. What looks good on the shelf may not do good when used in an actual game.
