Six Ways To Prevent Golfing Injuries
Playing golf with an injury can be difficult because your upper limbs have to be in great shape in order to make that perfect swing. Here are some techniques to prevent golfing injuries.
1. Do not forget to warm up. Golf may not be that physical but you still use your muscles to swing the club around and hit the ball. It is important to warm up before you do anything because warming up can help prepare your body by loosening your joints and increasing blood flow to your muscles.
You can warm up by jogging for a few minutes and then do some stretching especially with your arms. When you warm up, do not just focus on your arms but pay attention to your back as well.
2. Another way to prevent golfing injuries is to use the proper techniques. If you are an amateur golfer, it is best that you train first before you do some serious golfing. You cannot simply afford to injure yourself while in a tournament.
Studies have shown that there are certain techniques that golfers should apply in order to prevent golfing injuries. Using the inappropriate technique can result to some serious shoulder or back injuries.
3. Do some strengthening exercises. Sometimes warming up is not enough especially if you are an avid golfer much more if you are a professional golfer where you spend so much time hitting golf balls. Strengthening exercises are often done to prevent elbow injuries and back injuries.
Elbow injuries are also known as golfer's elbow. To prevent this type of injury one has to build and strengthen his or her forearm muscles. Forearm muscles can be strengthened by squeezing a tennis ball for 3-5 minutes.
Golfer's can also suffer from back injuries and most of them complain about their lower back being very painful. Poor flexibility and poor muscle strength can result to lower back pain along with poor swing rotation. To keep this from happening, a golfer should perform exercises that will help strengthen the lower back to prevent injuries.
4. Choose the right golf club sets. Each type of golf club set has its own features, advantages and disadvantages. Before you buy one, take time to research about each set and then think about which type best suits your needs. Using the proper set of clubs will also help in preventing golfing injuries.
5. Aside from choosing golf club sets, do not also forget to wear the proper golfing gears when you go golfing. These gears were created to make your golfing experience comfortable as well as reduce the risk of injuries.
Wear golfing footwear because these are made for golfing which keeps your feet firmly planted on the ground. Do not wear casual shoes because these shoes are merely made for strolling down the sidewalk and not walking on grass. Golf gloves are a must because these help protect your hand wrist from injuries.
6. Rest. No matter how much you are enjoying golf, avoid overdoing it. Playing too much golf and having only little rest will do your body no good. It can also result to muscle fatigue as well as muscle aches and pains. Always take time to rest adequately and let your muscles relax and rejuvenate.
