Four Things You Need To Complete Your Golf Gear

Golf is one of the oldest sports in the world. Of course, it may seem to be one of the most dull and boring but when you know what is involved, you will actually see that it is a complicated sport. Golf is probably one of the very few sports that require a lot of equipment. And this, of course, includes the clubs and golf balls required to play the sport. But it's not that as easy as just getting a set of clubs and then trying out the front and back 9. You have to know exactly what equipment you need to complete your golf gear.

• Woods – These are the clubs that are needed to make all the far shots. You will mostly use a wood when you are teeing off or when you are on a suitable spot on the fairway and still a long way from the green. Each golfer must have at least three Woods in their golf set. These three are known as the 1-driver, the 3-wood, and the 5-wood. The 1-driver is usually the first club to use to tee off because the low angle allows for a farther shot; or so it is believed. People at the moment, however, have been opting to buy 1-drivers with larger heads and allow for a higher angle and a lower spin.

• Irons – Your golf set must have at least eight Iron clubs. Just as the name suggests, these metal-headed clubs are used to get balls out of tight situations along the fairway or just near the green. In fact, these are usually used when a player is just about 200 yards away from the green because you can't hit golf balls very far by using an Iron. The standard Iron clubs are the 3-iron, 4-iron, 5-iron, 6-iron, 7-iron, 8-iron, 9-iron and the Pitching Wedge. These Irons are used to chip balls out of sand traps or to chip them into the green when a golf ball is close enough. Some professional players have even successfully gone and put their balls into the hold on the green from quite a distance just by using an Iron. Of course, these are rare occurrences.

• Wedges – As mentioned earlier, there is a Pitching Wedge. Wedges are also Irons and they are used for special situations. These clubs are very useful and most golf players will have a few of them in their sets. These are used during a game when a ball is quite close to the green. You can use a wedge to better control the ball the way you want to so that it rolls onto the green the way you want it to. They can even be used to shoot the ball into the hole if you have the right skills.

• Putters – These are the clubs that you use when you are on the green. They are not angled like the other clubs in your set because you will not be hitting the ball very hard when you are on the green where the hole is found. There are many types of putters that can be used to put your ball into the hole but it really is about skill when you are on the green so you only ever need just one putter.
