Three Golf Gear Items You Need To Wear On Course

When playing golf, you just can't wear anything out there. There is a proper dress code and since it is a gentleman's sport, you must expect that the dress code is quite formal. Of course, it's not like you are going to wear a three-piece suit, and you don't need to don a tie while you are out sweating in the links. You just have to follow a certain set of rules depending on the club that you are playing in or are a part of.

You can't wear basic jeans or just a t-shirt on the course but there are a few golf basics when it comes to the attire that you should wear. It's a lot more comfortable than you think and if you have played golf, you will understand why you should dress that way.

• Shirts – Now when it comes to golf shirts, there really is only one kind that you should wear: collared shirts. Collared shirts are the norm on the golf course and since you will be swinging your clubs a lot, your upper body will need to be protected from heat and still be comforted by your shirt.

It is for this reason that you should invest in quality 100% cotton collared shirts. There is also a silkier kind of cotton that you can buy for extra comfort. This is known as Pima cotton and the material is lighter and softer yet stronger. A comfortable shirt will help you to focus on your game.

• Bottom – You have two choices when it comes to golf bottoms and it's either you wear slack pants or shorts. Now, remember that jeans may feel comfortable but they are not acceptable in any golf club out there. For women, they also have the additional choice of wearing skirts or dress shorts.

Now, when you think about it, you will be doing a lot of walking on the golf course. This again means that your legs should be protected and well-ventilated. A pair of Bermuda shorts would be the perfect thing to wear and a pair of slacks would be great if you want to make the game look good as well. Also make sure that the clothes you wear are light-colored so that light and heat are reflected off of it rather than be absorbed.

• Shoes – Now this is where it gets really strict. You can only wear golf shoes on a golf course. Of course, if you aren't playing then you don't need to. But golf shoes are the only things you can use when playing. This is with good reason.

If you have ever played golf in anything other than golf shoes, you will find that it's really difficult to swing a club properly, let alone maintain a good game. Golf shoes are like cleats; with metal spikes on the soles, these are there to help you plant yourself unto the ground each time you are about to make a swing. This keeps your lower body firm and steady as you make the swing so that you can have a perfect shot.
